Newspaper Unfolding/Laundry Assistant

The Humane Society is in need of volunteers to unfold newspapers, wash dishes and provide laundry services. As a volunteer for laundry services, you will be responsible for washing, drying, folding and shelving laundry. Cleaning chemicals such as bleach, dawn dish soap and detergent are used. Dishwashing is necessary as we need to constantly keep up with washing of litter boxes, pet bowls and grooming tools. It will be necessary to be able to lift, stand for periods of time and reach overhead. You will work closely with the Team Leader and the kennel staff. Unfolding newspapers is a great (and important!) job. We use newspaper to line our cages for our puppies, cats and kittens. We need people who are able to sit for periods of time and be able to sort and organize newspaper. This is a job that can be done just about anywhere (even at home!) and is very valuable.

Training is mandatory. You will be notified by mail what your workshop training dates will be for your area of expertise. Workshop dates are one hour and will be held on Wednesday evenings or Saturday mornings. You’ll be able to choose the day/date that works best for you. Pre-registration for workshops is REQUIRED. The Humane Society reserves the right to refuse applications who do not meet the requirements necessary to perform the volunteer task.
